Collection, management and use of data for the purposes of scientific analysis and implementation of the Common Fisheries Policy for 2022

The project proposal ‘'Collection, management and use of data for the purposes of scientific analysis and implementation of the Common Fisheries Policy for 2022'' is in line with the legislation of the European Union and the recommendations of the Common Fisheries Policy for taking adequate and effective decisions for the management of Fisheries sector. Making optimal decisions shall be supported by the collection of qualitative data (biological, technical and economic data for commercial and recreational fisheries, aquaculture and fish processing enterprises). As an authority, which is responsible for the implementation of the framework for data collection, the Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture is obliged to follow the established National Work Plan for data collection measures and the present project proposal will serve as a tool for the effective implementation of relevant measures. EAFA is a legal entity of budget support - a second-level spending unit of the Ministry of Agriculture Food and Forestry, with its headquarters in Burgas and with four territorial units. The Agency implements activities related to the implementation of fisheries policy within the framework of the Common Fisheries Policy, state surveillance, control of fishing activities on farms and sites, carrying out other activities entrusted to it by law or acts of the Council of Ministers. The number of staff in the organizational structures and administrative units of the agency is 226 employees. In line with the objectives of the EU Common Policy in the field of conservation, management and exploitation of living aquatic resources, as well as for the transition to ecosystems for adaptation to the management of fishery resources, EAFA has prepared and submitted to EC 'Bulgarian national programme for collection and management of fisheries data'. Since 2008, the Agency has implemented this program.
