Fisheries are traditionally the livelihood of a large part of the population of Shabla Municipality. However, the sector is faced with many constraints - morally outdated infrastructure or lack of such, depreciated equipment, seasonality of the activity and more. This leads to a decrease in its profitability, loss of jobs, as a result of which fewer and fewer young people are fishing. All this also has an impact on the local economy. Increased economic activity in the sector requires targeted support from investments in the surrounding infrastructure to investments in tangible assets, to improve the working environment and the safety of workers. The project aims to promote social well-being, poverty reduction and economic development in the FLAG Shabla-Kavarna-Balchik through investments in improving the living environment. This will be achieved through the implementation of activities that are logically linked, building on previous initiatives implemented in the previous programming period and jointly implemented, which will have a greater complementary impact and impact on the fishing community. One of the main activities is the construction of a Marine Club in the Karia fishing village, Shabla municipality. The idea is to build and equip it to provide, after commissioning, to provide conditions for conducting trainings, meetings, information events and other events directly related to maritime sports aimed at attracting young people to fishing. The investment is targeted also at fishermen - to improve the living conditions in the fisheries community, as well as to promote and preserve maritime affairs and fisheries specific to the region.
