Prevention of poaching and pollution of water bodies in the territory of Devin Municipality

High Western Rhodopes Fishing Area is a popular fishing tourism destination. Along with the benefits to the local community, the tourist flow also brings negatives to the area. The pollution of coastal areas as a result of the waste dumped by tourists is a common phenomenon, which has a negative impact on the image of the territory. The abundant fishery resources on the territory attract the interest of a number of poachers fishing unregulated fishing during which it is forbidden and damaging biodiversity. The project proposal is aimed at prevention and conservation of fishery resources / combating poaching / and environmental protection, reducing the number of encroachments on fish species / fishery resources in artificial and natural aquatic ecosystems located in the territory of Devin Municipality and construction of an informed and active mass of local volunteer teams through the structures of the Devin Hunters and Fishermen Association. The proposal includes training volunteers to be technically equipped to carry out actions related to reducing water pollution and reducing and preventing poaching on the site. Appropriate technical means will be provided - drone, photocopies, thermal monoculars, binoculars, motorboats and others to adequately counteract the offenders. Within the project and after its completion, regular monitoring will be carried out by the volunteers of the association, which, in cooperation with the responsible institutions, will lead to limitation of water pollution in the territory of Devin municipality, loss of biodiversity and fishery resources, involving the local community in environmental protection activities in the territory of the FLAG.
