Fish is an unconditional part of a healthy and complete diet. To maintain good health, fish consumption is recommended at least 2 times a week. This trend can not be imposed on the Bulgarian population during the transition period, and today statistics show that the consultation of fish and fishery products is among the lowest for the European Union. In recent years there has been a slow increase in interest in fish, but also imports of fish products have increased. In general, consumer choice is imported fish because of massive campaigns on the content of nutrients in imported species, such as salmon, sea bass, sea bass. Bulgarians' preferences for fish as food depend on the informed choice of consumers. One way to enhance these preferences is to promote sustainable freshwater fish.
