From East2West - 2. Access to OEM Corridor through the Core Port of Burgas: Rehabilitation of the rail connections towards the Trans-European Transport Network.

The implementation of the project will contribute to the connection of the Terminal Burgas East 2 with the core national and Trans-European transport network, in particular with the Orient/East-Med Corridor, thus will facilitate freight transport between the sea port and internal connections. The project envisages construction activities, including rehabilitation of the railway track and catenary, activities for information and publicity, construction supervision, author's supervision, conformity assessment with the TSIs and project management. The implementation term of the project starts from 06.01.2021 till 30.07.2023. The railroad, subject of the current project, connecting Vladimir Pavlov station with the station of Burgas West (freight rail East-West connection) is interrupted due to poor technical condition. Submission and withdrawal of wagons for the Burgas West station is carried out through a siding track and switches № 6 and № 8 at Burgas station, which means that all trains for the port and the station of Burgas West pass through Burgas station. At present, all shunting activities for Burgas West Station pass through the switches of the Burgas port. With the implementation of the project the freight trains for the Burgas West station and Terminal Burgas East 2 will be able to pass directly from Vladimir Pavlov station, without the need for additional shunting. The shunting activity at Burgas station will be significantly facilitated. The rehabilitation of the railway infrastructure includes replacement of the sub and upper construction of the railway on the freight track “East-West Connection”, replacement of the adjacent switches and construction of a new “S” connection between track the "East-West Connection" and the first withdrawal track at Burgas station. The scope of the project is from the end switch № 20 (Vladimir Pavlov station) to the end switch № 103 in Bourgas station.
