As a result of the long-term operation, the buildings of the railway stations in Bulgaria are in very bad condition. This requires their modernization, reconstruction and repair, including existing installations. The appearance of railway stations is of great importance for the image of rail transport. They are in many cases the face of the railroad. It is not a coincidence that the big railway stations in Europe are turned into commercial centers with shops, restaurants and parking lots. Therefor, it is necessary to develop different concept for the renovation and reconstruction of the old stations and the construction of new once, taking into account their location. It is of great importance that the services at the stations are organised in such a way as to ensure adequate comfort conditions for the passengers. The project envisages complete reconstruction of the station complexes (new building for Nova Zagora railway station) in accordance with the high requirements of the European standards in the field, ensuring the safety of the passengers and the quality of the services, a comfortable work environment for the employees, as well as making the surrounding space compliant with the requirements for accessibility of people with disabilities and disadvantaged people. Measures will be implemented to increase the energy efficiency of public spaces, to introduce smart, modern systems for heating, air conditioning, lighting, information and more. Reconstruction and reinforcement of individual elements of the constructions, replacement of the roof structures, partial functional reconstruction of the rooms and lounges, replacement of electrical installations, water supply and sewerage systems, landscape development of the surrounding area, etc. will be carried out.
