Improvement of the systems for navigation and topohydrographic measurements along the Danube River - phase 2

EAEMDR has implemented project "Improvement of the systems for navigation and topohydrographic measurements along the Danube River" under the Operational Programme "Transport" 2007 -2013. The following results were achieved within the project: establishment of a GPS geodetic network on the Bulgarian bank of the Danube river and its connection with EUREF (activity 1), delivery and installation of automatic hydrometric and meteorological gauges (Action 2), delivery of floating and coastal navigation signs to be used in the Danube River (activity 3), and delivery of specialized vessels for hydrographic surveys (activity 4), which was not implemented within the project, according to Annex 1/29.05.2015 of the funding contract with the OP’s Managing Authority. The new hydrographic vessel should replace an old one, which is fully depreciated since 2009. This new vessel will be used for hydrographical surveys on the Danube River by EAEMRD which is the Bulgarian competent authority for ensuring safe navigational conditions. The project results will benefit all users of the inland waterway, incl. leisure ones (i.e cruise and fishing). Modern and state of the art methods for hydro morphological surveys in the common Bulgarian-Romanian stretch of the Danube will be performed using the new vessel. The data gathered will be used for updates of the ENCs, as well prognosis of the fairway changes. The proposal comprises implementation of 2 activities: 1. Delivery of specialized surveying vessel The vessel will be designed, built and delivered to the assigner, according to the requirements of the technical specification. 2. Technical assistance – project management, monitoring and dissemination A project team will be established for sound and proper project management. The dissemination activities will be implemented according to the requirements of Operational program on transport and transport infrastructure 2014-2020
