"Project for rehabilitation of water supply and sewerage network and construction of WWTP, Assenovgrad, Bulgaria"

The “Project for rehabilitation of water supply and sewerage network and construction of WWTP, Assenovgrad, Bulgaria” is planned to overcome the problems associated with existing water and wastewater infrastructure in the city of Asenovgrad and ensure environmentally sound water purification and discharge of domestic wastewater. The main activities envisaged under the project are: 1. Rehabilitation of water supply network with an expired service life, located in the sewerage network track 2. Rehabilitation of the combined sewer network with an expired service life. Expansion of the existing sewer network to the future Construction Of Wastewater Treatment Plant, closing the discharges of waste water into the river and replacement/ rehabilitation and expansion of the existing sewers in the urban area as hydraulic future needs. 3. Construction of WWTP for 65 500 PE with mechanical and biological stage and degree of purification, including technical infrastructure in accordance with the requirements of Directive 91/271 / EEC As a project result will be improved the quality of living in the city of Asenovgrad, overcoming the environmental and health risks and providing quality environmental services to citizens as the main target group. The estimated population to be served by the rehabilitated water supply infrastructure has 2645 permanent residents. The estimated population to be served by the rehabilitated mixed system has 49 626 permanent residents. The treatment plant will serve 65 350 PE.
