Integrated Water Project for Dobrich - Phase I

Preparation of the "Integrated Project for Improvement of the Water Sector in Dobrich Town" started in 2006 with the financial assistance of the EU, within implementation of project "Technical Assistance for Preparation of Integrated Water Measures in the towns of Plovdiv and Dobrich" Europe Aid/124488/D/SV/BG, financed by ISPA.The needs which are going to be met by the project are in accordance with the planned contribution of the Operational Programme "Environment 2014-2020" through actions for implementation of macro-regional strategies and sea basin strategies in the region.The project will contribute to the implementation of the EU macro-regional strategy for development of the Danube region.The implementation of the project activities will contribute to achieving one of the main priorities of the Danube Strategy, namely: 4) Restoration and maintenance of the quality of waters, set as an objective in „Protecting the environment in the Danube Region".The implementation of the project will lead to the achievement of the main objectives set in The Water Framework Directive (WFD) and its daughter directives as well as in Directive 91/271 / EEC on urban waste-water treatment and Directive 98/83 / EC on the quality of water intended for human consumption.Achieving the above-mentioned objectives will fully comprise the main target group, namely the population of Municipality of Dobrich and will contribute to the improvement of their quality of life. The main activities to be implemented within the project are: 1) Reconstruction and rehabilitation of WS network and sewerage in the town of Dobrich. 2) Reconstruction and expansion of WWTP in the town of Dobrich. The main results of the project implementation are achievement of full connectivity of the local population to the WWTP, improving the quality of the treated wastewater, increasing the efficiency of the water supply network of the city and decrease of the loss of drinking water within the water supply network.
