Preparation of regional feasibility study for water supply and sanitation for the territory of Sofia Municipality

The Project proposal includes activities for preparation of a Regional feasibility study (RFS) for the territory of Sofia Municipality, preparation of infrastructural conceptual designs, project documentation, assessments and evaluation of compliance with environmental legislation and other analytical documents, preparation of institutional, financial and economic analyzes, costs and benefits analyze for the consolidated region, as well as preparation of documentation for subsequent application under OP Environment 2014 – 2020 for the indentified in RFS measures, incl. Application form. The implementation activities set in the Project proposal target the population in the whole territory of the municipality. After its accomplishment reconditions for increasing the share of population connected to the sewage system of Sofia Municipality will be established. The measures will create possibility for implementation of the requirements of 91/271/EIO EU Directive urban waste water treatment, the collection of waste water will improve by increasing the number of households connected to the sewage system. The leaks and infiltration into the sewage system will be decreased as well. The presence or lack of engineering infrastructure, in particular – sewage system, is important factor directly influencing the quality of the environment and its attractiveness to potential investors and respectively - for the implementation of municipal policies. Public investments in sewage systems are one of the most efficient tools available to the Municipality to targer urban development and to accomplish the goals set in its strategic documents.
