Improvement of monitoring over the chemical status of ground water

The project has been developed in compliance with the provisions of OPE 2014-2020 for further development of the networks for control and operational monitoring of the groundwater chemical status, as well as the requirements of the WFD. The project will contribute directly to the SO 2 of OPE 2014-2020 for improvement of the water bodies status assessment. The project implementation will contribute for supply of data to assess compliance with the WFD and for carrying out of review of the status of groundwater bodies in a comprehensive and coherent manner, as well as optimization and extension of monitoring networks for improvement of their effectiveness. For improvement of monitoring of groundwater quality it is envisaged to carry out sampling and chemical analyses of priority substances and specific pollutants in groundwater, which have not been determined in risk or poor status in RBMPs 2016-2021, through laboratory-analytical activities which will provide important information for the quality of groundwater and necessary measures for improvement of their monitoring. The project envisages research, planning and design measures for extension and/or optimization of monitoring network for all groundwater bodies in the territory of the country, in compliance with the Methodology for planning the networks and programmes for monitoring of groundwater. This will be implemented through review, update and development of programmes for control and operational monitoring on the territory of all four regions for management of river basins. Based on analysis of technical status of existing stations from the groundwater monitoring network and results from the research and planning activities of monitoring network for all groundwater bodies, it is planned to carry out planning, design, rescontruction of existing and construction of new stations for monitoring of groundwater, as well as supply of equipment based on modern ICT solutions.
