Construction of water and sewerage infrastructure in Sofia Municipality

The project proposal aims to contribute to the compliance with the requirements of Directive 91/271/ EEC on urban waste-water treatment,by providing infrastructure for wastewater treatment and treatment in 3 agglomerations more than 10000 p.e. on the territory of Sofia Municipality - Sofia, Bankya and Novi Iskar and by reconstruction,modernization and completion of Sofia Wastewater Treatment Plant (SWWTP)-Kubratovo. As a result of analyses and studies,taking into account the CN No.PJ-JASPERS/2020-424/ET/RA/jw dated 21.12.20 of JASPERS, the following sites have been identified to be included in the scope of the project:"Completion of the sewerage network of Krastova Vada-East district,Completion of the sewerage network of Simeonovo district,Construction of the sewerage network for Dragalevtsi district,Completion of the sewerage network of Suhodol district, Completion of the sewerage network of Obelya district,Completion of the sewerage network of Benkovski district,Completion and reconstruction of the sewerage network of Bankya,Gradoman, Mihailovo,Verdikal districts and Ivanyane, Bankya distr,Completion of the sewerage network of Novi Iskar,as well as reconstruction,modernization and completion of SWWTP–Kubratovo, incl. technological equipment.The project envisages construction of 114,110km sewerage network, as follows:14,344km mixed sewerage network;66,891km domestic sewer network and 32,875km rain sewer network and reconstruction of 1,941km sewer network.Reconstruction/modernization/ completion of SWWTP Kubratovo is also planned.The additional number of p.e.with access to improved wastewater treatment after the implementation of the project is 14,441 and the total pollution load that is collected and treated is expected to reach 1,395,387p.e.During the project implementation,incl.the reconstruction and modernization of the SWWTP, there will be no discharge of untreated wastewater that is treated in the existing SWWTP, the operation of the SWWTP will not be stopped.
