The project proposal for grant under the procedure BG16M1OP002-2.002 "Combined procedure for the design and construction of composting installations and installations for pre-treatment of waste" under Priority Axis 2 of Operational Program "Environment 2014-2020" is aimed to take measures for improvement of municipal waste management in accordance with the National Waste Management Plan. Sustainable waste management will be achieved through investment in design and construction of composting plant for separately collected green and biodegradable waste, together with providing the necessary equipment, facilities and equipment for separate collection of green waste and pretreatment installation for mixed collected municipal waste, as well as the accompanying infrastructure to them. The installations will be built on a land plot, 3 km east of the town of Velingrad, in a plot of land № 033021, Blagovoto area, Velingrad municipality. There will also be the necessary accompanying infrastructure to the site: incoming water supply, external power supply and transformer station. A plant for composting of separately collected green and biodegradable waste will have a maximum capacity of 4000 t /y and selected technology composting heaps with mixing and aeration. The necessary equipment, facilities and equipment for the separate collection of green waste will be provided. A pre-treatment installation for mixed municipal waste will have a maximum capacity of 15 000 t /y, comprising a mechanical sorting of waste and the consequent stabilization of the sieved biodegradable fraction in stabilizing unit with a capacity of 2500 t / y.
