Design and construction of an installation for composting biodegradable waste and an installation for preliminary treatment of household waste for municipalities in Razgrad Waste Management Region

The overall goal of the Project is to reduce the quantity of disposed waste generated in the municipalities members of RWMA Razgrad through ensuring infrastructure for separate collection and composting of green biodegradable waste and for preliminary treatment of household waste before disposal. This goal is compliant with the waste management hierarchy and the EU and national objectives for reducing the quantity of biodegradable waste going to landfills and increasing the quantities of recycled waste of paper, glass, metals and plastics. The project contributes also to improving resource efficiency as the infrastructure built under the project will turn the waste into useful products. The specific objective of the Project is to ensure the needed infrastructure for increasing the quantities of separate collected, recycled and recovered wastes in the municipalities in Region Razgrad. The Project includes the following activities: 1. Preparation of the project proposal 2. Preparation of tender documentations 3. Preparation of design projects and preparation of tender documentation for design and construction of the two installations 4. Technical design and construction of a composting installation and an installation for preliminary treatment 5. Construction supervision 6. Implementation of information and communication measures 7. Organization and management of the Project As a result of the project, a composting installation and an installation for preliminary treatment will be constructed and put into operation. Equipment for separate collection of green waste will be ensured. The social and economic effects of the implementation of the project consist in improved quality of the environment by reducing hazardous emissions related to waste disposal; provision of a new waste service for the citizen and business. New jobs will be created for the operation of the infrastructure built under the project.
