Design and construction of an installation for composting green and/or biodegradable waste for municipalities Valchedram and Yakimovo

The overall objective of the project is to reduce the amount of biodegradable landfilled waste generated on the territory of Vulchedrum and Yakimovo municipalities through the separate collection and utilization of green and / or biodegradable household waste. This objective is in line with the waste management hierarchy and with European and national targets for a phased reduction of the amounts of biodegradable municipal waste destined for landfilling. The project also contributes to improving resource efficiency, with the result of the investment being the waste turns into a resource - compost. The specific objective of the project is to provide the necessary infrastructure for separate collection and recovery of biodegradable municipal waste on the territory of Vulchedrum and Yakimovo municipalities. Under the project, a composting plant with a capacity of 2257 t / year will be constructed, which will be located on a plot of land in the town of Valchedram, property № 917.6 according to KBC of Vulchedrum Municipality / ECATTE 12543 /. As a result of the project implementation, a composting plant will be built, which will be designed for processing of separately collected green and / or biodegradable municipal waste from the settlements on the territory of the Vulchedram and Yakimovo municipalities and will produce high-quality compost. The necessary trucks and containers will also be provided for the separate collection and transportation of collected waste to the composting installation. The socio-economic benefits of implementing the project are aimed at improving the quality of the environment for the residents of Valchedram and Yakimovo municipalities by reducing waste related emissions; providing a new type of waste service to residents and businesses in the municipality and high-quality compost. New jobs needed to operate the infrastructure will also be created.
