Construction of an installation for the composting of separately collected green waste - Vratsa region

The aim of the project is to build a composting plant for separately collected green and biodegradable waste of the Municipality of Vratsa and the Municipality of Mezdra in the RWMA of Vratsa. The construction of this installation will contribute to the reduction of the amount of municipal waste landfilled in the Regional Non-hazardous Waste Depot in Vratsa by providing additional capacity for separate collection and composting of green and / or biodegradable waste. The proposed site for the construction of the facility is located in the territory of the Municipality of Vratsa in the area "Shumaka" on the territory of the town of Vratsa and occupies part of the assigned property, in which there is located a regional landfill for municipal waste - Vratsa region, its area amounts to about 101915 m.sq. There is an infrastructure on the site and there is no need to build a new one. Planned for construction and operation are the following facilities: - Composting plant with a capacity to 8000 t/year. - introducing a system for separate collection of green waste, including containers with a capacity of 1.1 cubic meters (574 pcs.) and 4 pcs. waste disposal machines. With the construction of a composting plant, the landfill of the municipal landfill will be extended by a significant reduction in annual quantities of landfilled waste. The target group of this project are the residents of both municipalities of Vratsa and Mezdra. Social acceptability requires that waste management systems meet the needs of the local population. The implementation of the project will improve the quality of life of the local population of both municipalities by introducing sustainable environmental protection mechanisms and introducing the target groups to the different aspects of waste management. The focus of the project is on the possibilities of separating and utilizing green and biodegradable waste, enhancing environmental awareness and changing people's behavior.
