Implementation of a demonstration project for waste management on the territory of Pirdop Municipality

With the current project municipality of Pirdop will implement a demonstration project aimed at sustainable management of municipal waste on its territory. The activities envisaged in the project include the treatment of municipal waste generated in the territory of Pirdop Municipality. The demonstration project will focus on implementing measures to prevent the generation of municipal waste and separate collection of municipal waste. For the implementation of the demonstration project the applicant has successfully identified good practices in other areas of municipal waste management that are of interest to the target groups and with potential for further multiplication in other settlements. In order to ensure the implementation of the demonstration project, the applicant envisages construction works and delivery of assets (composters and containers for separate collection) which assists for the successful implementation. An information campaign will be launched to promote the results of the project and to stimulate change in people's behavior in order to form a zero waste society. For successful implementation of the project, the applicant has provided realistic planning of the project cycle, balanced distribution of activities, commitment to the set goals which guarantees the achievement of the expected results. The following activities will be implemented within the project: 1) Preparation 2) Implementation of a demonstration project for municipal waste management in Pirdop Municipality 3) Conducting campaigns to promote project results 4) Project organization and management As a result of the implementation of the project is expected to prevent the generation of 276 tons of waste and to collect separately 178 tons of waste per year. The implementation of the demonstration project will involve 4400 people directly benefit from the results achieved by the implemented measures. The results of its implementation will be disseminated to 6000 persons.
