"Implementation of good practice for reducing the amount of landfilled waste and increasing awareness and recycling capacity in the municipality of Smolyan"

The project proposal of the Municipality of Smolyan "Implementation of good practice for reducing the amount of landfilled waste and increasing awareness and recycling capacity in the municipality of Smolyan” is a proposal for a demonstration project, which uses good practice from a successfully implemented project outside the territory of Bulgaria, evaluated as such, by a delegated organization from the European Commission. The purpose of this project proposal is to provide support for the successful implementation of activities identical in content and appropriateness through the implementation of which: To reduce the amount of landfilled waste and, accordingly, to increase the share of waste recycling, through priority implementation of activities that are highest in the waste management hierarchy, and thus to achieve the objectives of Art. 31, para. 1 of the Waste management act, namely waste prevention; Another priority of the project proposal is to raise public awareness and to establish a model of responsible civic behavior for compliance with the aforementioned waste management hierarchy and through more implemented activities to this end, to assist in waste prevention and increase their separate gathering. The activities under this project concern only household waste and provide for such activities /measures /actions. The main activities envisaged in the project replicate the content of good practice activities adapted to the environment in which they are planned to be implemented, namely in the territory of 10 municipal schools in the municipality of Smolyan. It is planned to hold one comprehensive information program for the establishment of a new waste prevention behavior model on 'Reducing the amount of landfilled waste through highly responsible behavior', as well as numerous activities to promote the results of the project at a national level.
