The project proposal envisages the implementation of a demo project of good practice from the project "Capacity Building for Biodegradable Waste Management in the Transboundary Region of Burgas and Kirklareli",DBPD RD-02-29-140/28.03.2013, CCI No.2007CB161PO008 BULGARIA-Turkey.The project introduces composting as an appropriate and economical way of dealing with the large quantities of municipal waste that is being disposed of, raising public awareness and drawing the attention of young children and pupils to its environmental benefits.Composters will be located in all schools, kindergartens and nurseries.Installation will be accompanied by training in the use of the equipment. The resulting product–compost, will be used in schoolyards and green areas of gardens and nurseries. In this way, adolescents will be able to immediately see the usefulness of compost, and hence the need to introduce mechanisms for sustainable waste management.Composters will be placed in the yard of the HomeSocialPatronage, which provides food daily to over650 people and in the Hospital–Lukovit, with 5wards and 100beds for patients who eat daily. The municipal administration will also be involved in the project. In the municipal building, as well as on the other sites, documents for destruction of documents will be delivered–shredders, which will tear the paper into small pieces before it is placed in the composter.Garden shredders for cutting green waste will be delivered to the town halls, larger schools and kindergartens, a hospital and social services complex. To promote the main results of the project, 3major info campaigns will be conducted, acc.to the first results–after the 6 month, in the 12 month and in the 18 month.Info days will be held in schools, kindergartens and town halls in the municipality in order to encourage stakeholders to continue, and in all settlements /1town and 11villages/ in the municipality in order to encourage households to start using the home composting approach.
