Demonstration project for the prevention, reuse and recycling of household waste materials

Euro Steel Trade Ltd is a company whose activities are related to the collection, temporary storage and pre-treatment of waste from end of life electronic and electrical equipment and unusable batteries and accumulators. These activities are performed by the company on the basis of IPPC No463 from 2013, as amended by decision No 463 from 2017 of Executive director of the Executive Environment Agency of Bulgaria. For the purposes of our pilot demonstration project, we have conducted a study of good practices and methods and technologies used in Europe. As a result, good practice has been identified, implemented through a LIFE funded project in Belgium, whose adaptation in Bulgaria will lead to both prevention and preparation for the reuse and recycling of part of the household waste materials. The project proposal is aimed both at implementing some of the exemplary waste prevention measures specified in Annex 4 of the Waste Management Act, as well as at the commissioning of a pre-treatment and high-quality recycling facility that is unfit for used batteries and accumulators, such as household waste generated by the public. The pilot demonstration project will be implemented at the applicant's site located on the territory of Sofia Municipality.
