Implementation of a demonstration project in the field of waste management in the municipality of Kirkovo

The project is a "demonstration" and has been developed under the following circumstances: - uses good practice from successfully completed projects implemented and completed with results elsewhere, incl. and outside the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, - envisages implementing, testing, evaluating and disseminating actions or approaches from projects that have already been completed that, in the specific context of the project, are new or unknown at the designated location (other than where good practice has been successfully implemented) , where the demonstration project is planned to be implemented (within the boundaries of the respective region / municipality, within the waste management region or throughout the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria) AND - implement environmental mitigation practices through separate collection of municipal waste with priority at source collection and recycling of separately collected municipal waste, which activities generally contribute to reducing the amount of municipal waste for landfill. In order to build a society that is clearly aware of the need to introduce environmental protection measures, the Demonstration project is planned to be implemented in two predefined places (owned by Kirkovo Municipality). The venues are specially selected to be publicly accessible so that installations can be used at any time of the day. For its implementation, delivery and installation of an installation for collection and pre-separation of solid municipal waste - type of vending machine is envisaged. The installation will serve just over 21,000 residents in the territory of Kirkovo Municipality. It is envisaged to apply the so-called deposit system, which currently operates on the territory of 7 European countries, including Germany, Sweden, Iceland, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, the Netherlands, Croatia and others.
