""Don't throw it away - compost it""

„Don’t throw it away – composte it” demonstration project uses good practices from successful projects and deliverables with disseminating actions or approaches that are new or unknown to the municipality. The project will implement practices to reduce environmental impact by preventing the generation and preparation for reuse of municipal waste. Activities will generally contribute to reducing the amount of municipal waste to be landfilled. The purpose of the demonstration project is to raise privity and public awareness for compliance with the municipal waste management hierarchy, by introducing home and community composting to prevent biodegradable waste. This can be fulfilled by organizing training and specialized events for the production of waste items re-use for the overall reduction of landfilled municipal waste generated on the territory of the Municipality of Belene. The main activities are related to placement of composters of different volume for on-site composting in households throughout the municipality, kindergartens and schools, as well as public ones - in the green areas of the city of Belene. In order to successfully achieve the project objectives, home composting training will be conducted for all target groups directly affected by the project results. The active promotion of the main results is an integral part of the project. They aim to encourage stakeholders to continue the successful approaches implemented in the project, as well as to attract new stakeholders to start using them. To this end, formal conferences and a Creative Waste Workshop campaign will be organized to cover different age groups in the municipality of Belene. The planned activities for the development and distribution of brochures and promotional materials will further contribute to the dissemination of the project results among the stakeholders in the municipality and beyond.
