Implementation of a good practice aiming at reducing of the amount of landfilled waste and increasing the recycling rates - The Green Classroom

The main objective of the project is to promote the prevention of municipal waste generation and responsible community behavior for separate waste collection through the introduction of a sustainable model of behavior at school and at home. The specific implementation objectives are as follows: 1) Improving of knowledge of the population, and in particular children and students, regarding the prevention of municipal waste generating, recycling and separate collection of municipal waste; 2) Focusing the attention of children and their families on the importance and ways of protecting the environment, and in particular on methods of composting and separate collection of municipal waste; 3) Formation of environmental habits and behavior in the young inhabitants of Hisarya municipality. Project activities include: Activity 1. Preparation of the project. Activity 2. Implementation of a demonstration project. Activity 3. Campaigns to promote the results of the project. Activity 4. Project organization and management. Activity 5. Information and communication. The activities envisaged in the demonstration project are formulated in line with the objectives set out in the project Art. 31, para. 1 of the Waste Management Act and Objective 1 to reduce the harmful effects of waste through prevent their formation and encourage their reuse of the National Prevention Program waste generation from the National Waste Management Plan. As a result of the demonstration project, the following long-term results are expected to be achieved: - Reducing the amount of municipal waste by preventing the generation of waste; - Increase the share of separately collected waste. The project target group includes a total of 525 kindergartens and primary school students from Hisarya municipality. The teachers involved in the implementation of the activities will be 20 teachers in 5 kindergartens and 5 schools selected under the project.
