The project proposal "Implementation of a demonstration project for composting waste in Kostenets municipality" aims to solve the problem of large quantities of bio-waste, by preventing their generation through domestic composting on the territory of Kostenets municipality. Home composting will be a new method of managing waste at local level. This method of using the organic waste will not only reduce pollution but also improve the quality of life through the production of organic compost . Kostenets Municipality got familiar and is intending to implement a good practice of the Association of Municipalities of Southwestern Bulgaria used in the "Composting - Focusing on the Environmentally Friendly Lifestyle" project, financed by the Bulgaria-Macedonia Cross-border Cooperation Program 2014-2020. 320 composters are planned to be delivered and distributed to households. Information campaigns on project results, waste management and separate collection are foreseen as supporting activities.
