Recultivation of a municipal landfill for household waste located in the territory of the town of Pordim, in property N 13603

This project proposal regards the recultivation of a municipal landfill for non-hazardous household waste in property N 13603, in the Otsreshta area, as of the approved cadastral records of the town of Pordim, with a total area of 16302 decares. Through the landfill’s remediation, the project aims to rehabilitate the environmental aspects affected by the prolonged use of the landfill. The project also seeks to achieve economic, ecological and social gains from the environment’s rehabilitation through ongoing monitoring. The main project activities regarding the landfill’s technical recultivation will be accompanied by biological recultivation activities within the project’s life - 5 years as of the final payment under the project. The key activities which will contribute the most to achieving the project’s main objective include construction works necessary for the closure and recultivation of the landfill, preparation of procurement documentation, handling, and management of the project, as well as communication and promotion. The main target group of the project includes the country’s population within the municipality of Pordim. The project’s main results are the technical recultivation of Pordim’s municipal landfill and the resulting biological recultivation of the landfill, as well as certain contribution to the decrease of its adverse effects on the environment through limiting the methane emissions of the landfill, drainage, and treatment of the polluted waters and the use of the land as a green space.
