"Closure and recultivation of municipal landfill in the territory of Roman municipality"

For the purposes of Art. 112, para 2 of the WMA, Roman Municipality has taken measures aimed at closure and reclamation of municipal landfill in the territory of the municipality, Valchov Dol locality, land of Dolna Beshovitsa village. The remediation of the landfill has been designed in accordance with all current environmental protection requirements. The landfill will be closed and technical and biological reclamation will be carried out according to the plan for compliance with the regulatory framework and the National Waste Management Program. In order to reduce the area it is envisaged that the waste will arrive and the body of the landfill to be reclaimed will be formed. The arrival of the masses is done by the movement (arrival) of the masses and the cross-sections - typical and individual, in order to minimize the construction works. Through these activities the area of the existing landfill to be reclaimed is 13,934 decares. An area of 0,200 decares shall be provided free of waste. This is followed by the construction of vertical gas wells with ballasted ribs placed in the uppermost part of the already compacted and formed waste. The covering layers are executed sequentially as they are spread and compacted with a bulldozer, arriving from top to bottom and sideways. The finishing works are the landscaping, strengthening and construction of the protective drainage ditches. The capture of surface rainwater after landfill reclamation will be done through a surface ditch designed partly around the landfilled reclaimed body. After the technical reclamation of the landfill biological reclamation is carried out. A monitoring system will be introduced. Following the technical reclamation of the landfill a biological reclamation shall be carried out which is not part of the project proposal. The biological reclamation of the landfill will be completed with municipal funds, outside the funds provided under the procedure, within 5 years after the final payment.
