Closure and reclamation of a municipal solid waste landfill in the territory of Pirdop with EKATTE 56407, Pirdop Municipality

The present project proposal envisages the implementation of activities for closure and reclamation of the municipal landfill for non-hazardous household waste in the town of Pirdop with an area of ​​20 994 sq.m, which is located in property № 56407.3.73 with a total area of ​​21 670 sq.m , and the other three properties contaminated with waste should be cleaned on arrival. The operation of the landfill was suspended by Order №12 /07.08.17 of the Director of RIEW - Sofia for termination of operation of the "Municipal landfill for non-hazardous waste", on the grounds that it does not meet the regulatory requirements for this type facilities. The main activity included in the project is technical recultivation of the landfill for municipal waste in the municipality of Pirdop, which will reduce environmental pollution and prevent a risk of public health. The subsequent biological recultivation will be carried out during the duration of the project, according to the activities envisaged in the project documentation. Within the project the following activities will be implemented: analysis, construction and copyright supervision, technical recultivation of a municipal landfill for non-hazardous municipal solid waste, organization and management, information and communication measures and preparation of tender procedures according Bulgarian procurement law. Resulting from the main project activity, the technical recultivation of the Landfill for non-hazardous solid waste of Pirdop Municipality will be completed, since it doesn’t meet the legislation, subject to procedure of violation of the EU legislation in relation to delivered Judgement of the EU Court of 16.07.2015, case C-145/14. The total recultivation area will be 20 994 sq.m.
