Restoration and conservation of habitats and species in Central Balkan National Park

The Central Balkan National Park Directorate’s project proposal Restoration and Conservation of Natural Habitats and Species in the CBNP plans the implementation of activities aimed the restoration and conservation of natural habitats and species in NATURA 2000 protected areas BG0000494 “Central Balkan” which is at the same time SCI and SPA (as SCI included in the list adopted by Decision No. 122/2007 of the Council of Ministers, Prom. SG. 21/2007, as SPA declared by Order RD-559/2008 of the Minister of Environment and Water) and BG0001493 “Central Balkan – buffer” which is SCI (as SCI included in the list adopted by Decision No. 802/2007 of the Council of Ministers, Prom. SG. 107/2007). The territorial scope of the project proposal is as follows: for BG0000494 “Central Balkan” area – the districts of Lovech, Gabrovo, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv and Sofia and more specifically parts of the territories of the municipalities of Teteven, Troyan, Apriltsi, Sevlievo, Pavel banya, Karlovo, Sopot, Anton and Pirdop that fall into the borders of CBNP; for BG0001493 “Central Balkan – buffer” area – part of the land of the village of Hristo Danovo (municipality of Karlovo, district of Plovdiv), that falls into the borders of Chamdzha maintained reserve. The project proposal envisages implementation of direct measures to maintain/ restore the favourable conservation status of the following natural habitats: 9110, 9130, 9150, 9170, 9410, 9530, 7140, 6230, 6170, 62D0, 6210,6150 and also the following priority species Griffon Vulture (A078 Gyps fulvus) and Bullhead (1163 Cottus gobio). For natural habitats 91BA , 95A0 , 3260 and 6520 are planned indirect measures for maintenance/ restoration of their favourable conservation status.
