Implementation of activities for preservation of the natural condition of the natural habitat 9130 Asperulo-Fagetum beech forests in the "Bogdan" managed reserve falling within the Natura 2000 site BG0001389 Sredna gora and taking measures for its improvement.

The project proposal is aimed at preserving the natural state of nature habitat 9130 - beech forests in "Bogdan" managed reserve falling within the territory of Natura 2000 site BG0001389 Sredna Gora. "Bogdan" managed reserve is located in the Koprivshtitsa municipality, Sofia district. The project proposal includes the following activities:. Activity 1: Improvement of the conservation status of habitat status 9130 Asperulo- Fagetum beech forests by improving the health condition of the forest. Under Activity 1, an "update assessment of the health condition of beech forests and measures to improve them" will be carried out (sub-activity 1.1) and "Individual selection of plus trees with a view to in situ conservation of the forest genetic fund. Ex situ conservation of forest genetic fund by collecting forest reproductive materials (GRMs) from basic tree species and storing them in a seed gene bank "(sub-action 1.2). Activity 2: Implementation of fire-fighting measures,aimed at elimination of adverse impacts hindering the natural regeneration of target habitats. Two sub-activities are included in the scope of activity 2: - The construction of silvicultural barriers and fmineralized stripespreventing from forest fires in target habitats (sub-activity 2.1); - Positioning of water sources which to serve to serve as water- reservoirs, for fire-fighting needs, which will rise the speed of reaction and efficiency of the extinguishing actions in the "Bogdan" managed reserve (sub-activity 2.2).
