Restoration and maintenance of priority natural habitats and species on the territory of Vitosha Nature Park

The project proposal envisages the improvement of the conservation status of natural habitats 7140 "Transition mires and quaking bogs", 9130 "Asperulo-Fagetum beech forests" and 9180 "Tilio-Acerion forests of slopes, screes and ravines" which are subject to conservation within the Natura 2000 special area of conservation SAC BG0000113 Vitosha designated for the conservation of natural habitats and wild flora and fauna included in the list of special areas of conservation, approved by the Council of Ministers Decision No 122/2007 as well as the improvement of the population status of Boreal owl (Aegolius funereus), Eurasian eagle-owl (Bubo bubo), Short-toed Snake Eagle (Circaetus gallicus), Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), Long-legged Buzzard (Buteo rufinus), European Honey-buzzard (Pernis apivorus) and Black stork (Ciconia nigra), subject to conservation within special protection area SPA BG0000113 Vitosha for the protection of wild birds, designated by Order No. RD-763/28.10.2008 of the Minister of Environment and Waters (promulgated in State Gazette No. 99/2008) both lying within the territorial scope of "Vitosha" Nature Park. The project proposal includes the following five activities: 1. Improvement of the conservation status of peat complexes (natural habitat 7140 " Transition mires and quaking bogs"). 2. Improving the conservation status of natural habitats 9130 "Asperulo-Fagetum beech forests" and 9180 " Tilio-Acerion forests of slopes, screes and ravines ". 3. Improving the population status of 7 bird species: of Boreal owl (Aegolius funereus), Eurasian eagle-owl (Bubo bubo), Short-toed Snake Eagle (Circaetus gallicus), Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), Long-legged Buzzard (Buteo rufinus), European Honey-buzzard (Pernis apivorus) and Black stork (Ciconia nigra). 4. Information and communication measures. 5. Organization and management of the project. 6. Supporting activities for project preparation and implemntation.
