IMPROVING THE STATE OF THE NATURE CONSERVATION OF TARGET SPECIES IN THE NATURA 2000 NETWORK THROUGH THE COMMUNITY-LED LOCAL DEVELOPMENT APPROACH IN THE TERRITORY OF THE LAG TUNDZHA

A total of ten target species of amphibians, reptiles and bats on the territory of the Tundzha LAG in the Tundzha municipality needs support to improve their conservation status. The aim of the project is to support these species to improve their conservation status in protected areas Bakadzhitsite, Mochuritsa River, Tundzha River 1, Tundzha River 2, Sakar and Svetiiliyski vazvishenia. The species included in the project proposal are: European pond turtle, European fire-bellied toad, Southern crested newt, Lesser mouse-eared bat, Greater mouse-eared bat, Long-fingered bat, Common bent-wing bat, Mediterranean horseshoe bat, Blasius's horseshoe bat, Mehely's horseshoe bat. The project includes 9 activities. By performing 3 conservation activities for maintenance / improvement of the conservation status of species and natural habitats under measure 109 of the NAP, the project proposal will directly contribute to achieving the objective of the procedure, namely - providing a contribution to improving the conservation status of Natura 2000 species on the territory of the Tundzha LAG, reported in an "unfavorable - unsatisfactory" condition in 2013 according to Art. 17 of the Habitats Directive; as well as to achieve the specific objective of Priority Axis 3 of OPE 2014-2020. The three conservation activities will improve the suitable habitats of the 10 target species mentioned above. For the target species that have not been established on the field within the project "Mapping and determination of the conservation status of natural habitats and species - phase I", research and information activities and stakeholder involvement are planned. Observations of target species of amphibians, reptiles and bats and their habitats are planned to overcome one of the most serious threats - the lack of sufficient information.
