Improvement of the conservation status of natural habitat type 4060 under parameters "Area", "Structure and function" and "Future perspectives" and natural habitat type 5210 under parameters "Area" and "Future perspectives"

The project proposal is aimed at improving the conservation status of natural habitats. Activities are planned to improve the conservation status of the natural habitat 4060 "Alpine and boreal ericoid communities" according to the following parameters: - "Area" (in protected area BG0000209 Pirin, through implementation of measure "Verification of the reference area for the habitat"); - "Structure and function" (in protected area BG0000372 Tsigansko gradishte, through the implementation of the measure "Control of grazing (fencing to direct grazing in certain areas; work with farm animal owners)"; - "Future perspectives" (in protected areas BG0000496 Rila Monastery and BG0001493 Central Balkan - buffer, through implementation of measure "Firefighting measures"). Activities are also planned to improve the conservation status of the natural habitat 5210 "Shrubs with Juniperus spp." According to the following parameters: - "Area" (in protected areas BG0001021 Mesta River, BG0000212 Sakar, BG0001011 Osogovska mountain, BG0001012 Zemen, BG0001013 Skrino, BG0001022 Oranovski prolom - Leshko, through implementation of measure "Verification of the reference area for the habitat") - "Future perspectives" (in protected areas BG0001007 Strandzha and BG0000366 Kresna - Ilindentsi, through the implementation of the measure "Promotion of sporadic grazing in the habitat"). The activities comply with Annex No 1 “Eligible habitats and measures” to the Guidelines for applications under procedure No BG16M1OP002-3.021 “Improvement of the conservation status of natural habitats”. As a result of the project implementation, an improvement of the conservation status of the covered natural habitats, subject to protection in the Natura 2000 network, is expected.
