"Improvement of the conservation status of the habitats of target species of amphibians and reptiles in the protected areas" Persina "," Obnova-Karamandol "and" Nikopol Plateau ".

The implementation of this project will achieve a favorable conservation status by improving the status of key habitats and habitats, raising awareness and maximizing stakeholder interest, as well as optimizing the population parameters of target species of amphibians and reptiles: Southern Triturus karelinii, Bombina bombina, Common turtle (Emys orbicularis) in the Nikopol-Belene LAG. The project envisages types of activities corresponding to the types of activities of the Assignment, namely study of the distribution and population parameters of the target species, restoration of existing natural or artificial reservoirs with standing waters that do not fulfill their ecological functions (dried or dried), polluted , in the advanced phase of succession, etc., as well as conducting information and stakeholder engagement activities. The project activities are implemented within the range of protected areas in which the assessment of the conservation status of the target species at the level of criterion 1, Populations within the boundaries of the zone is "Adverse - unsatisfactory". The expected results are to improve the status of the target species populations in the PA in the Belene-Nikopol, by increasing the number / area of habitatable reservoirs, including those of artificial or partially natural origin, as well as the total area of potential habitat and effectively occupied territories of the target species' populations in the protected areas, as well as creating conditions for growth the abundance of the species in the protected area. When selecting potential habitats for the target species and restoration, research and project activities will be prioritized for wetlands that are municipal and state owned.
