Support for Natura 2000 in Varna region

The project aims at implementation of measures 15 and 33 of the National Prioritized Action Framework for Natura 2000 network. It is aimed at working with key stakeholders in Varna region, identified on the basis of a preliminary analysis, namely representatives of the tourism sector and competent structures for marine protected areas. Two round tables are planned on the following topics: 1. Natura 2000 - presentation of the opportunities provided by the network, promotion of sustainable forms of tourism, in line with the conservation objectives in the protected areas (for the land part of the district and emphasis on the migration route Via Pontica); 2. Marine protected areas and the protection of the Black Sea, incl. establishment of protected areas in the sea waters, protection of the purity of the sea water for the sea inhabitants and for tourist water use, development of underwater tourism. Good practices from other regions / countries will be presented, such as the protection of dune habitats and the reduction of anthropogenic pressure from the tourism sector. The most appropriate communication channels determined on the basis of the National Information and Communication Strategy for the Natura 2000 network will be used, in particular face-to-face contacts. As a result of the implementation of the project, a process of changing the attitudes of the population towards the Natura 2000 network and its perception as an opportunity and not as a constraint for people is expected to begin. Ultimately, this will lead to building a shared vision for the Natura 2000 network and support for achieving a better degree of conservation of the species and habitats subject to conservation, which is precisely the purpose of the procedure and the priority axis "Natura 2000 and biodiversity "of the program. In Varna region, 7 SPAs and 15 SACs have been approved and promulgated. They are listed in the attached analysis (because of the restrictions of this field).
