Centers for increasing the population preparedness for reaction in case of floods

The project is aimed at developing a unified model for capacity-building actions of the population in case of floods and subsequent crises. The project’s common goal aims at enhancing at national level the capacity for reaction in case of floods and subsequent crisis by creating and developing the necessary infrastructure and methodological framework for the preparation of the population in the Republic of Bulgaria for protection and response in case of floods and subsequent crises. The target groups are: students; persons aged over 60 years; working-age population; volunteers; municipal administrations; media. The envisaged activities, under the project, are all aimed at achieving the following specific objectives: Repair and equipping of six regional training centers; Capacity building of the trainers in the six centers ; Training of students; Training of elderly people; Training of other target groups in the project; Final simulation exercises in the centers with participation of representatives of all groups trained participants; Study of the population’s readiness for adequate actions in case of floods and subsequent crises, and developing a strategy for follow-up actions; Development and publishing of information and communication materials. The expected results of the project are as follows: Created 6 regional training centers; gained experiences and best practices from two EU Member States; Built capacity of trainers; Increased capacity at regional and national levels for effective and efficient actions of the population in case of floods and subsequent crises; a fully comprehensive model developed for enhancing the capacity at national level for actions in case of floods and subsequent crises through study of the population’s readiness and developing a strategy for follow-up actions.
