Prevention and counteraction of landslide processes on the Republican road network - Phase 1

The territory of the Republic of Bulgaria is characterized by a high degree of landslide activity. This is predetermined by intensive tectonic and seismic processes in past geological periods, some of which continue to this day. Various types of landslide, mechanism, activity and range are registered in the country, which act in a sequential and destructive manner, lead to disastrous and catastrophic situations, threaten the life and health of the people, the security of settlements, destroy residential, industrial, industrial buildings, cultural values , interrupt roads, railways. lines, water pipes and other technical infrastructure, destroying agricultural land and forest areas, worsening environmental components. The strategic document outlining the vision in the development of the policy on geo-protection activity is the National Program for Prevention and Reduction of Landslides on the Territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, Erosion and Abrasion on the Danube and Black Sea Coast 2015-2020. The present project aims to finance activities related to execution of preventive actions of two sites, which are defined as one of the most urgent, according to the prioritization of the persons registered in the register under Art. 95 para. 2 of the Territorial Planning Act (SPA) as of 15.10.2015 landslides according to a well-established methodology for their prioritization (Order No. RD 02-14-1390 / 17.12.2015 of the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works). Consequence of the implementation of the project activities is expected to directly contribute to the limitation of the landslide processes of sites located on the territory of the Republican Road Network with reg.№VID09.03280.01 and VRC10.12259.02. Through the implementation of the project, human life and health will be safeguarded and material material losses will be avoided.
