Strengthening the landslide LOV19.44327.02 - rap on a road to a Regional landfill for solid household waste - "Sinchets" Str. in the town of Lukovit

The landslide in the town of Lukovit is a periodically active landslide, among the most urgent sites in the country and is included in the list of the prioritized landslides according to The National Program for Prevention and Reduction of Landslides and the Methodology for Prioritization of Landslides in the Republic of Bulgaria. It concerns urbanized territory and destroys the only road that connects the "Iztok" district with the city and goes to the Regional depot for for municipal waste. Its fortification aims at preserving the life and health of both the population in the area and those employed in the waste management sector of Lukovit and the neighboring municipalities - Yablanitsa,Roman,Teteven and Cherven bryag, serviced by the landfill. The district, where the landslide area is located, is densely populated with Roma population. The houses in the district are 503,with a population of about 3000 people,of which 1250 children daily pass through the landslide area on their way to school or kindergarten. There are 21 houses with 116 inhabitants in Sinchets street and 14 houses with 101 inhabitants in "Kiril and Metodi" str.(where the landslide area is)-these people are directly threatened by the landslide processes.A huge part of the population in the district lives in extreme poverty, is uneducated and has a low road transport culture. The existing asphalt pavement in the landslide area is cracked, severely deformed, with partial collapses, which is dangerous for both vehicles and pedestrians. Surface water has repeatedly entered the structure of the road and it is therefore necessary after the fortification activities in the landslide area to complete an entirely new construction of the asphalt pavement of the affected area. The project proposal envisages the construction of a fortification with anchor system of the landslide area, rehabilitation of a part of the roadway of a street in Lukovit and construction of a measuring system to monitor the landslide process.
