Air quality improvement measures in Smolyan Municipality

The implementation of the project proposal will contribute to the improvement of the ambient air quality in Smolyan Municipality, by reducing the excessive levels of fine particulates and indirectly to nitrogen oxides. The activities are focus at supporting measures related to studies, research, information and awareness campaigns. In the result of which will be implemented concrete investment measures aimed at the identified as the main source of pollution with PM10 domestic heating falling within the scope of the measures of the National Program for Improvement of the Ambient Air Quality (2018-2024) and contributing to the objectives of the National Program for Air Pollution Control according to Art. Directive (EU) 2016/2284 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 December 2016 on the reduction of national emissions of certain atmospheric pollutants. Implemented with the project proposal measures together with other ones, supported by different sources of financing under European and national programs as well as with the municipal budget will also contribute to the implementation of the national targets to improve the air quality management and to help achieve the objectives deriving from national legislation. The national sector legislation fully transpose the requirements of Directive 2008/50 / EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 May 2008 on ambient air quality and cleanliness in Avenues for Europe (Directive 2008/50/EC).
