Measures addressing the transport as a source of air pollution in Sliven municipality

The project includes renovation of public transport vehicles in the Municipality of Sliven by purchasing of 4 new electric buses, which are considered to be the most environmentally friendly vehicles and 6 new trolleybuses with improved energy efficiency. The new buses and trolleybuses will replace the oldest and most depreciated vehicles of the project partner. The electric buses will be used for the busiest suburban lines. The following 11 units will be replaced: - 5 diesel buses complying with Euro 0 and Euro I standards, manufactured from 1976 to 1995. - 6 trolleybuses, manufactured in 1986 /33 years old/ 3.414 tonnes of NOx and 0.260 tonnes of atmospheric particulate matter per year will be saved with the implementation of the envisaged activities for decommissioning the above 5 diesel buses and their replacement with new electric buses. The project includes renovation and repair of the existing 35-year (since 1984) infrastructure, providing the operation of the trolleybus transport in the city of Sliven through: • Repair of 8 sectors of the air contact network; • Repair of converter stations - 2 pcs. / Station 2 "Druzhba" and Station 3 "G. Kirkov" / • Delivery of charging stations - 4 slow charging stations for electric buses and 1 fast charging station.
