"Reconstruction and reorganization of existing building into a cultural and educational center (museum) for contemporary art and library"

The project is part of the investment projects included in the (IPURD) as the premises, intended for intervention are located in the identified "public functions zones with high social value" within IPURD. A main project objective is to support the modernization of the cultural infrastructure in Burgas Municipality in support of the local community development based on knowledge, creative innovations and a shared cultural life. The project implementation comprises activities related to reconstruction and modernization of buildings as well as furnishing and equipment provision in view of transforming the premises into a contemporary and attractive cultural and educational center (museum) for contemporary art and a library. The main target groups are: citizens of Burgas Municipality, whose cultural needs will be met by gaining access to contemporary cultural initiatives and a library fund; visitors of the city who will take advantage of a diverse tourist product; children and young people who will use a modern library that provokes reading interest; disadvantaged people who will have equal access to the services provided. The needs that the project meets are related to solving the following problems specific to the cultural institutions in the municipality: (1) Insufficient /depreciated cultural infrastructure buildings; (2) Insufficient capacity for the increased demand for cultural activities and services; (3) Lack of equal access to cultural activities for all population groups; (4) Lack of public areas/urban spaces for arts and culture. (4) Poor practice of interactive work methods and use of new technologies. As a result of the project implementation, part of the cultural infrastructure in Burgas Municipality will be modernized, providing contemporary educational and information services, opportunities for cultural activities development and exposure, easy access to information and services by different groups of the population .
