Integrated System for Urban Transport of the city of Ruse – 2nd stage

Project“Integrated System for Urban Transport of Ruse city–2nd stage”is developed under requirements of OP“Regions in Growth”2014-2020, invst priority 2“Integrated Urban Transport”.Selection of activities in the project proposal is based on detailed FS, with which on basis of conducted analysis(of current state, demand and supply of Public urban transport, modernization alternatives, legal and institutional framework)are examined optional solutions.The selected alternative includes the components:C.1–Construction of pedestrian overpass link b/n Dist Rodina 3 and Dist Charodeika; C.2–Reconstruction of Pridunavski Blvd and rehabilitation of 3 footbridges; C.3–Construction of pedestrian zone along Chiprovtsi Str; C.4–Rehabilitation and reconstruction of Shipka Str - from Chiprovtsi Str to Bulgaria Blvd; C.5–Reconstruction and rehabilitation of pedestrian underpass at Ruse High School of Mathematics; C.6–Upgrade of intelligent transport system. All intervention sites are included in the Integrated Plan for Urban Regeneration and Development of Ruse.The project proposal upgrades the project implemented by Ruse Municipality“Integrated System for Urban Transport of Ruse city”,financed by OP"Regional Development"2007-2013.With the selected alternative are included interrelated actions, permanently improving the economic, social and environmental status of Ruse. Individual components are selected so that the overall impact of the project proposal exceeds the sum of effects of individual components, if implemented separately.The implementation of project “ISUTR–2” not only upgrades executed activities, but provides opportunity after their completion the activities to be implemented as follow-up project Alt. 3 and/or Alt. 4, described in FS, Alt.3 will continue activities for building facilitated access to Public urban transport, and Alt.4 will create conditions for most efficient use of developed infrastructure for Public urban transport, by purchasing new trolleybuses.
