Development of a modern educational infrastructure in the city of Veliko Tarnovo

The main priority of Veliko Tarnovo municipality is the renovation of the municipal educational infrastructure aiming to provide sufficient boosting conditions for learning. On the territory of Veliko Tarnovo 26 educational maintained institutions are functioning, whereas 13 are schools and 13 children’s maintained institutions. Apart from the strenuous efforts of the municipal administration to renovate the building fund, the resources are quite insufficient in terms of implementing one constructive improvement of the educational infrastructure conditions. The lack of financial resources contributes to the deterioration of the overall condition of the building capacity – resulted from the low percentage of implemented energy efficiency measures in the buildings, as well as the ineffective use of the schools’ premises /PE premises, dining rooms, library premises/ during the winter season when problems of the heating systems occur. By implementing the anticipated measures in the proposed sites of intervention, the complete modernization of the educational infrastructure should be accomplished. The selection of the specific measures is determined by the following needs: achieving energy efficiency and reducing total operational costs and energy consumption of electricity consumers, by repair and replacement of internal heating installations, ensuring gasification, provide LED lighting solutions, heating insulation of external constructions and elements; repair of fundamental building construction elements /roofing systems, facades, construction fundaments/; improve the sanitary conditions by implementing repair in the buildings premises, as well as anticipating improvement measures and solutions for modern outlook of outdoor yards. All project activities are deliberately selected in order to address the needs of the end beneficiaries and respond effectively to reduce their demands.
