Development and rehabilitation of parts of the technical infrastructure of Shumen

The project proposal includes improvement of key parts of the urban environment of Shumen through their rehabilitation and urbanization. The project is directly aimed at the implementation of eligible activities: reconstruction, rehabilitation of walkways and pavements, construction of bicycle paths and lanes, pedestrian zones, the establishment of playgrounds, installation of park furniture - benches, restoring fountains, creating access for people with disabilities, introduction of energy efficient street lighting and lighting of parks and spaces with energy efficient lighting. The main objective of the project is to improve the quality of life, social inclusion and improving the state of the environment through the development of the physical elements of the urban environment. Target groups - the population of the city, incl. people disadvantaged children, young people and people of working age, mothers with children, pensioners. Expected result of the project is improvement of over 40 000 sq. m - streets, sidewalks, walkways, lighting and spaces, which will improve the quality of urban environment, namely the renovation of poorly maintained due to lack of sufficient funds and outdated infrastructure. These interventions will directly improve the economic and demographic conditions of the city and indirectly - environmental and climate. The project will contribute to achieving quality results associated with planning, global competitiveness and convergence regions. Also with its implementation will increase the attractiveness and improve the quality of the urban environment in Shumen this will be a prerequisite for ensuring sustainable and environmentally friendly urban environment for a better quality of life and intensification of social contacts.
