"Rehabilitation of the pedestrian central zone - Stage I"

The implementation of the project proposal "Rehabilitation of the pedestrian central zone - Stage I" will contribute to improving the quality of living conditions through the planned urban, landscape-ecological and recreational-aesthetic activities, while at the same time it links the main urban development zone of Kyustendil and its elements with the surrounding environment. The combination of these activities will contribute to turning the town of Kyustendil into an attractive center for local people as well as for tourists and businesses. The clean environment giving equal access to the functions it performs, in combination with provision of better access to people's homes and development of alternative transport is a prerequisite for successful and sustainable development of Kyustendil, one of the 36 cities, centers of agglomeration areas. The project proposal will have a positive impact on the entire community in the town of Kyustendil and the region, since it proposes coordinated implementation of significant local policies for solving problems related to modernization and reconstruction of the physical environment of significant public areas in Kyustendil. The planned activities are interconnected and they will provide synergy and permanent improvement of the target territory in terms of accessibility, security, ecological conditions and life quality in the town of Kyustendil. The improvement of the economic, social, residential and natural environment and of the infrastructure in the municipality of Kyustendil will on its turn lead to increase in investors’ interest, and hence to strengthening the economic prosperity and the labor market and to increasing employment in the Municipality of Kyustendil
