"Renovation / Reconstruction of the Municipal Theater of Kyustendil and construction and restoration of the recreation area of the Theater Park"

The main objective of the project "Renovation / Reconstruction of the Municipal Theater of Kyustendil and construction and restoration of the recreation area of the Theater Park" is to provide a modern and efficient cultural infrastructure in support of the balanced and sustainable development of Kyustendil agglomeration area. The main activities under the project will contribute to the improvement of the state and access to the cultural institution, which in turn will raise the standard of living and support the provision of competitive and quality services. The project implementation will contribute to the long-term positioning of Kyustendil Municipality as an attractive and dynamic urban center offering diverse cultural services in an appropriate and cost-effective environment, meeting the needs and expectations of the population and promoting the cultural and social integration of all vulnerable groups. With the funds provided for this project it is envisaged that the Municipal Theater of Kyustendil will be completely renovated and a recreation area of the Theater Park will be constructed and restored. The project proposal envisages the rehabilitation of the Theater Park with an area 3 986 sq.m. and major renovation of the building with a total built-up area 8 778 sq.m., entirely used for promotion of cultural life in the town. The site is located in the central city part of Kyustendil, on "Bulgaria" Blvd. , a pedestrian alley connecting the central square „Velbuzhd” and the city's train and bus station. In close proximity there are other sites, identified as priority in the Integrated Urban Reconstruction and Development Plan of Kyustendil. The project implementation will achieve a complete and finished look of the urban environment, which will allow for outdoor activities, will turn it into a meeting place of citizens and their consolidation as united civil society.
