Devin is a small mountain municipality, where the state of educational infrastructure is in poor condition. In the municipality’s center Devin operate two kindergartens, which are responsible for the care and education of nearly 220 children aged 3 to 7 years. The buildings, along with their heating systems are old and worn out, and as such are in need of renovation and reconstruction. The need for the municipality to adapt to current needs and improve the technical condition of the educational infrastructure is palpable. The implementation of energy efficient materials will directly contribute to the reduction of overal energy consumption and indirectly to the recline of greenhouse gas emissions in small towns and supporting centers of the polycentric system, according to the National Spatial Development Concept. Despite the partially implemented energy-saving measures- thermal insulation of external walls with EPS 0.05m, the energy consumption for heating at the moment is still very high. This project proposal is aimed at improving the energy efficiency of buildings by the municipal educational infrastructure, namely: Kindergartens "Zdravets" and "Izvorche" – town of Devin. This will be achieved through: - Improving the efficiency of the heating systems; - Improving the insulation on the external walls on each of the two kindergartens' buildings; - Reducing heat loss by thermal conductivity from the windows, through the replacement of existing windows with PVC frames.
