Support for Development of Emergency Medical Care System

The present project will be implemented on the territory of the whole country,covering 237 sites of the emergency medical care system.The aim of the project is to provide qualitative, equal and timely access to EMC services to the citizens of the RB and to those residing on its territory in implementation of the strategic guidelines and objectives of the National Health Strategy 2020,the Concept for the Development of the of EMC System in the Republic of Bulgaria 2014-2020 and the National Health Map. This will be achieved by implementation of 3 main project components: COMPONENT №1–Interventions in the infrastructure of the EMC system of the first type(outpatient care)-27 emergency medical care centers in district towns with their 170 branches and 6 remote teams and of the second type (Emergency Departments in medical establishments with more than 50% State participation in the capital)through construction works (incl. new buildings),reconstruction, improvement of the access of persons with disabilities to the buildings,subject to intervention, and to their adjacent space. COMPONENT №2-Modernization of the premises by supply of equipment and furniture for the EMC system of the first and of the second type. COMPONENT №3-Purchase of modern medical vehicles provided with medical equipment for EMC. They are developed in accordance with the requirements of Medical standard Emergent Medicine and best European practices and requirements for timeliness,sufficiency,quality and safety.Target groups are: all potential users of the EMC services-the country's population, the permanent residents and the tourists; personnel of EMC system and healthcare system; the people with a variety of chronic diseases who are in an increased risk of experiencing crises and their families. The project implementation will provide 30-min. access to emergency medical care for 24-hour diagnosis,monitoring and treatment and reduction of the number of hospitalizations in the healthcare system.
