The World of Thracians

The valley of the Thracian kings, located on the territory of Kazanlak municipality, is the area known for the many and most remarkable evidence of the unique Thracian culture. The project proposal "The World of Thracians" is a continuation of the long-term consistent efforts of the Municipality of Kazanlak to create a tourist product based on the Thracian tombs in the Valley of the Thracian kings - Kazanlak Thracian tomb, a site of "world" significance, under the auspices of UNESCO and immovable cultural properties of "national" significance, included in the 'Necropolis of Thracian city of Sevtopolis' serial object. The project proposal "The World of Thracians" is aimed at restoring and preserving a cultural monument in the Ostrusha grave complex with a category of "national" significance for future generations, ensuring the accessibility of Thracian cultural heritage in the valley to the public from the country and abroad, as well as for the development of a competitive tourism product by building a multifunctional tourist complex to act as a gateway to visit the entire valley. The envisaged combination of project activities will complement the results of previous projects, including OPRD 2007-2013 investments. With this approach and continuity with the results so far, the project proposal will provide the missing prerequisites for making the serial object an attractive and competitive tourist product. The projectproposal includes: 1.Conservation, restoration and socialization of the Thracian tomb and cult complex Ostrusha. 2. Construction of a bicycle lane from the town of Kran to the town of Shipka (continuation of an existing lane up to the planned tourist complex). 3. Construction of Tourist Complex "The World of Thracians", which will provide the necessary tourist infrastructure for a general presentation of the amazing and unique worldwide concentration of Thracian tombs.
