"The power of water. Support for increasing the potential of Burgas Municipality as a competitive tourist destination"".

Project “The power of water. Support for increasing the potential of Burgas Municipality as a competitive tourist destination” is part of the consistent policy of the local administration for turning the city into a recognizable and preferred tourist destination with a variety of cultural, historic, religious and natural sites and services. The overall objective is aimed at increasing the competitiveness and position the city of Burgas as a preferred tourist destination, through investments in development of an unique tourist product promoting local cultural heritage. Main activities: 1. Construction and reconstruction of 4 sites of national and local importance, as follows: - Exposition and demonstration center “Mineral waters of Aquae Calidae”; - Church “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”; - Expansion of existing pear and construction of a new one for small vessels in the Saint Anastasia island aquatoria; - Cultural and tourist complex “Chengene skele”. 2. Purchase of tourist ship. 3. Purchase of equipment and furniture. 4. Promotion of the tourist product and financial support of OPRD 2017-20123. The activities aim to respond to the needs of the target groups identified, incl. local population and guests of the city, local communities, business, socially vulnerable people, cultural, scientific and educational institutions. The direct and indirect effects from the implementation of the project, such as construction of new touristic sites and services, promotion of the region, increased number of visitors, opening new jobs will respond to the needs of the target groups. Expected results are related to increased number of tourists in Burgas Municipality, protection of local culture and customs, balanced development of the territory.
