"RESTORATION, CONSERVATION, PRESERVATION, POPULARIZATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE "ANCIENT CITY OF HERACLEA SYNTICA" AND ADJACENT NECROPOLA

The main objective of the project is to develop and impose the object "Ancient City of Heraclea Syntica" as a competitive tourist attraction along the middle stream of the Struma River, which contributes to the diversification of the tourism product offered by the Municipality of Petrich. Intended for two zones for development of the site - a zone for cultural heritage and a zone for socialization. Through the implementation of engineering, the main activities for infrastructural work will be realized. Conservation will be done for all structures, which include: an ancient fortress wall, a residential area from the Hellenistic and Roman eras, the ancient city of Heraclea Sintica, including an antique fortress wall, a Hellenistic and Roman residential quarter and an early Christian necropolis, the ancient city of Heraclea Syntica - forum and adjoining sites, buildings under the Roman Forum, shops and sanctuaries, civilian basilica, early Christian basilicaq etc. A service center will be built, with a ticket office, a guide room, free parking, connecting alley between the objects. A visitor's center with exposure and virtual hall, a free-access aqua park attraction and a wide public access area - barbecues, playgrounds, free secure parking will be built and equipped with the grant. In order to create an integrated tourist product (ITP) with FI funds, a small-scale revenue-generating investment in municipal property will be built, incl. a catering facility, Roman Terme with swimming pools, accommodation area, children's camp, recreation and camping area. Activities for the promotion of the attraction, implementation of 3 festivals and information and publicity will be carried out, The project management will be provided by municipal officials. As a result, it will create an ITP for the AICA, its attractiveness and the number of visitors will increase. The management and administration of the site, after its completion, will be performed by the Municipality of Petrich.
